Blackberry profits increase 37%
Research In Motion (RIM), the maker of Blackberry mobile phones, has reported a 37% rise in quarterly profit thanks to higher sales. The Canadian company made a net profit of $710m (£468m) in the three months from December 2009 to February 2010, up from $518m the year earlier. Mobile phone charges may fall
Callers to UK mobile phones could see cheaper bills from 2011 under plans announced by telecoms regulator Ofcom. It has proposed cutting the cost mobile phone firms can charge for connecting a call from another network from 4.3 pence per minute to 0.5p by 2015. Mobile phone firms Vodafone and O2 parent Telefonica are to pool their network infrastructures in the UK and three other European countries.
